Working from a live model, this 2-day intensive covers the classical figure drawing approach that begins with a simple abstraction of the figure, refined through conceptual models of light, anatomy and a guiding aesthetic that finds beauty in truthful expression. Students will learn drawing techniques that improve accuracy as well as how to utilize value to create the illusion of three-dimensional space. Carol’s artwork will be displayed in the Alliance for the Arts September exhibit Modern Atelier: The Methods of Today’s Training.
Supply list:
- Range of Graphite Drawing Pencils (any brand) – 6B, 4B, 2B, HB, 2H
- 2 – 3 sheets of toned Can son Mi-Teintes 18” x 24” paper (cut to fit art board) – Recommended tones: Moonstone, Oyster, Pearl or Steel Gray
- 1 Black Charcoal Pencil – Recommended Generals Brand HB
- 1 White Charcoal Pencil – Recommended General Grand
- 2 Kneaded erasers (any brand)
- 1 Knitting needle (for measurement) Size 2 (2.75mm)
- 1 Drawing Board with spring clips attached
